Captain
Deathray was a soldier in the Confederate army during the American Civil War.
After being severely wounded in battle, he was abducted by aliens. In order
to save his life, the aliens gave his body the ability to shift into intangibility.
After being returned to Earth he was studied by various government agencies,
and over the next few decades learned how to control his new body. He figured
out how to excite his own molecules, enabling him to fly, shoot lasers from
his eyes and to become intangible at will. He became a government spokesperson
for a number of years until he met Plan B and they formed their own super team.
Plan
B was a top secret weapon for the government, unknown to many even at the highest
levels of power. After being dropped out of a plane he would often carry out
tasks that required the brute force of a whole squad but the subtlety of a single
man. From infiltrating an enemy compound to destroying entire small countries,
Plan B was the government’s garbage man. Plan B came to resent this work.
He came to meet Captain Deathray, who was at the public side of the government’s
superhero branch (known as Super-S.A.M.) and unhappy with his own government
appointed tasks. They decided that they could do more for the public (and themselves)
on their own, and created The X-Heroes.
Xxero
unintentionally picks up electrical charge from the air and any surrounding
objects, and absorbs it into his body. If too much time goes by and he doesn't
dispose of it he could explode, putting those around him in constant danger.
To compensate for this he wears a special suit that absorbs the energy from
his body, stores it in a backpack, and allows him to discharge it from his hands.
Xxero's powers have separated him from his peers (not to mention standing his
hair up and turning it white!) but their flashy nature got him lots of work
in commercials and on television. But the Hollywood lifestyle only served to
alienate Xxero further. He met Captain Deathray on a shoot for Precious
American Magazine. Their combined celebrity allowed them to get the funding
they needed to start The X-Heroes.
The
Incisionator spent the first half of his life in a small town in Kentucky, learning
everything he knows hunting in the woods and drinking in the roughest bars in
the south. Although he has never demonstrated or claimed to have superpowers,
his ability to talk his way out of almost any situation has been noted on more
than one occasion. When in battle he becomes crazy, falling into a trance that
makes him erratic, unpredictable, and violent. This combined with his clawed
glove are what let him go toe to toe with super villains no "normal"
man could face. He is short.

The
X-Heroes are the longtime protectors of Paramount City. They have saved Lunatown
from the viciousness of Slithor, Mayor Rothberg from the infectiousness of Vozom,
and Little Atlantis from the repulsiveness of Mr. Wiggles. Not to mention starring
in commercials for Roca Cola and St. Neverstop Batteries, and their own series
of action films directed by Marty Powrad. Aided by a never ending supply of
wondrous weaponry from The Scientist, if it’s possible to be too good
at your job then the X-Heroes were. After the action films were slowly run into
the ground (finally concluding with the painful X-Heroes Conquer Mars)
and super villains became scarcer, The X-Heroes found that they had battled
their way into a corner. Having spent literally every penny they made on super
model girlfriends, jet packs, mansions, and flying hot rods outfitted with laser
guns, our heroes are now out on the street and are going to have to get creative
to find a way just to survive.
